Brandon C. Elkins-Barkley is a Certified Family Law Specialist, family law litigator, mediator, and parenting coordinator with practice and experience uniquely tailored to complex asset division, including retirement benefits, and a child-focused approach to custody matters. Brandon provides comprehensive family legal services involving custody disputes, parenting issues, and property division, including high net-worth clients with business interests, complex employment benefits packages, and financial issues. Experienced in state and federal courts, Brandon holds a Masters of Law in Taxation from the University of Denver. Brandon is a family law attorney with over 15 years of experience, whose practice has allowed him to represent clients in the Indiana Supreme Court, Indiana Court of Appeals, state trial courts, and in federal administrative appeals. He also brings his unique experience of having worked in an international family law firm to his client matters involving disputes and issues reaching far beyond Indiana. Brandon regularly presents at continuing legal education seminars about, among other things, retirement and employee benefits and how those assets are handled in divorce cases.
Brandon is a graduate of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington and the Masters of Law Tax Program at the University of Denver. The child of parents who divorced in his infancy, he has a direct and personal perspective on how the divorce process effects children , which guides him as a counselor and as a parenting coordinator. He clerked for the Honorable Judge Richard Caschette in Colorado’s 18th Judicial District before entering private practice in Colorado. Brandon returned to Indiana in 2018, where he has been ever since.
Brandon believes keeping a focus on litigation preparation and creative strategy is essential in representing clients. He is always looking for opportunities to resolve and minimize intrafamily conflict. He emphasizes the importance of a positive and constructive attorney-client relationship and believes the best result for his clients will only come from an open and trusting line of communication.
